Novel Submission Prep
4 weeks | Google Classroom | writers with a completed manuscript | starts Monday 15th September 2025 (modules go online Monday morning; log in whenever during the week suits)
This 4-module course is for writers who have written (and revised) a novel and are preparing to send it out to agents and/or publishers. It’s designed to help you ensure that your ‘submission package’ - the material you’ll be sending out, including opening chapters and that dreaded synopsis - is as strong as possible.
Each week participants will be provided with practical, up-to-date information about different aspects of the publishing industry and submissions process, and submit material for feedback.
This course is not suitable for beginners or for writers at first- or early-draft stage.
Course outline:
Module 1: First Pages
Module 2: Synopses
Module 3: Cover Vs Query Letters
Module 4: Who To Approach & What Next
“Claire, these four weeks have been so helpful. You have shaped my submission brilliantly and I can't thank you enough. Your attention to detail is perfect. I have never done a course through modules before and was not sure how I would manage with the techie stuff, but it has been straightforward and flowing. Thank you!”- participant, spring 2025
“The materials were comprehensive yet concise, highly informative, and your revisions were extremely helpful.”- participant, spring 2025
“hugely helpful… thanks again for the close and attentive reading of my work and the super useful notes” - participant, winter 2024
“Many thanks for your very relevant course and detailed comments… All were very valuable.” - participant, autumn 2024
